FPIRC Course no 35: Non Woven - From fundamentals to processing

The Forest Products Industry Research College – FPIRC – is the co-ordinator in Sweden for education and continuing education within the Pulp & Paper area, with a focus on scientific developments. The intention is to indicate where the cutting-edge of research lies in chosen sections of the pulp and paper value added chain.


Course description/Content:

The course will give an overview of different non-woven processes, different raw materials used for nonwoven production and also on new materials and devices that can be prepared with non-woven materials. Focus will be both on fundamentals of raw materials and processes AND on the different practical ways non-woven materials can be produced and used.


Learning objectives:

- Non-woven processes- fundamentals and applications

- Raw materials used for non-woven production- Focus on relations between chemistry-structure and macroscopic properties

- New materials and devices that can be prepared from non-woven materials

- Future developments in the non-wovens area

Pre-requisites: M.Sc. or similar
